Dear Members, Guests, and Leprechauns:
As always, the February meeting of America’s Oldest Bar Association (AOBA) was a rousing
success!! Our intrepid band ventured to the frontier territory of Lakeville where we were treated to a fantastic Italian buffet by our good friends at Loon Pond Lodge. We were joined by several members of the neighboring colony of lawyers in Bristol County (welcome Brandon Ferris and Meghan Hamilton) as well as the usual cohort of totally respectable members, guests and friends. Judge Michael Brennan, Presiding Justice of the Taunton District Court, offered valuable insight into the recent amendment to the Restraining Order statute which now includes the concept of “coercive control’ within the familiar definition of “abuse.” This is definitely a topic which will bear close scrutiny in the coming months.
The next meeting of the PDBA/AOBA will take place at Mamma Mia’s restaurant on the
Plymouth waterfront, 122 Water Street Plymouth (508-747-4670). We will commence, as usual, with our raucously famous social hour, featuring a cash bar, at 5:30(ish), followed by Mamma Mia’s signature Italian buffet at 6:30(ish). Our very own webmastermax, aka Max Martucelli, is currently in high level negotiations to secure cannolis for dessert. Top secret talks are also underway to wrangle a very special guest speaker for this meeting. We anticipate the cost of this fabulous event to be about $40(ish). Stay tuned for further details as they become available You can reserve your place at our table by contacting the PDBA/AOBA email at plymouthdistrictbar@yahoo.com , marshalljohnsonesq@gmail.com or by calling/texting the curmudgeon at 508-317-4002 (if you dare). You can also respond to the spankin’ new PDBA website at www.plymouthdistrictbar.org . Don’t forget, we take Venmo

LAW DAY: The PDBA is in full swing with planning for Law Day 2025. This premier
celebration will take place on Thursday MAY 1 at the PLYMOUTH TRIAL COURT, 52
Obery Street, Plymouth at 9:00 am and will feature an all-day series of events, including
remarks by members of the judiciary, a mock trial with local students, exhibits and a CLE
program. The day will be capped off by our Law Day dinner at INDIAN POND COUNTRY
CLUB, 60 Country Club Way Kingston, with a social hour at 5:30 followed by a terrific buffet
meal at 7:00. The PDBA is currently putting together a panel of legal luminaries to speak at our dinner about this year’s Law Day theme, “The Constitution’s Promise: Out of Many, One.” The cost for the dinner will be $75 per person and, as always, guests are welcome. We expect this to be a popular event, so make your reservations early.
SAVE THE DATES: Make sure you don’t miss any of our stupendous gatherings by marking
the following dates in your calendars, pocket diaries, cell phones and on your refrigerators and cell walls: MAY 28, JUNE 25 (GOLF TOURNAMENT), SEPTEMBER 24, OCTOBER 29
(HALLOWEEN), NOVEMBER 19 (ELECTIONS) and DECEMBER 17 (CHRISTMAS).
Lastly, please remember the PDBA is only able to keep up its tradition of community,
collegiality and camaraderie by maintaining a slim financial margin of error. Therefore, if you
find that the vicissitudes of life intervene and you have to cancel a reservation less than 48 hours ahead of a meeting, the PDBA/AOBA reserves the right to ask you to shake the cobwebs out of your wallets and purses and bring yourselves flush with the most rewarding bar association this side of Castle Blarney and that side of…Castle Blarney.
Best regards
PDBA/AOBA
