SEPTEMBER MEETING / TEDDY BEAR DRIVE
The PDBA is pleased as punch to announce that our ‘back to school’ meeting will
take place on Wednesday September 24 at a brand spanking new venue, Vitamin
Sea, 98 Water Street, Plymouth (774-426-4001).
Located on Plymouth’s
waterfront, our new friends at Vitamin Sea will offer an indescribably delicious
buffet smorgasbord of gourmet sandwiches, accompanied by not one, but two
equally sumptuous buffet salads. And as if the food, atmosphere and camaraderie
of America’s Oldest Bar Association were not enough, the PDBA will also be
featuring an uplifting, topical and informative presentation by one of the most
esteemed speakers in recent memory (see details below). The bargain basement
cost for this relaxing, end-of-summer, can’t miss event is a measly $35 per
person!! As always, the PDBA/AOBA accepts payment in cash, checks and
Venmo (sorry, no Bitcoin).
TEDDY BEARS
Since its inception more than 15 years ago, the PDBA Teddy Bear program has
donated customized teddy bears to the Plymouth Probate and Family Court and the
Plymouth Juvenile Court to be given to adoptive parents and their kids. Over the
years we have donated more than 2,000 teddy bears to these loving families and
they are always a hit!! The PDBA looks forward to continuing this uniquely
rewarding endeavor and we are looking for our members, friends and guests to
help us to defray the cost. Anyone wishing to help support the cause may do so by
making a voluntary add-on to their meal payments ($5, 10, whatever). If you can’t
make a meeting you can just forward a donation directly to PDBA, P.O. Box 3022,
Plymouth, MA 02361. You can also pay by Venmo. This is a fantastically
worthwhile program and the PDBA hopes everyone will help us to keep it going!!
GUEST SPEAKER
Speaking of teddy bears, the PDBA is especially pleased to announce that the very
special guest speaker for our September meeting will be none other than our very
own “Papa Bear,” the Honorable Edward Boyle (ret.). Judge Boyle will not only
regale us with many colorful tales from the trenches drawn from his days as First
Justice of the Plymouth Probate and Family Court, he will also give us his insights
into the inner workings of the PDBA Teddy Bear program and its impact on the
families and kids receiving these special toys. Judge Boyle has been an active
supporter of the PDBA and its various programs, and we are looking forward to
hearing from him as we gear up for our full slate of fall meetings.
You can reserve a spot at our September gathering by email at plymouthdistrictbar@yahoo.com . or marshalljohnsonesq@gmail.com . You can also call or text our resident curmudgeon at 508-317-4002.
SEE YOU
THERE!!!!!!!!!
